This is the funeral home that we created in our garage. The Flying Crank Ghost is in the background. It looks white in this picture because of the camera's flash but it floats in a dark area of the garage, illuminated by a black light. The coffin was borrowed from a local funeral home for the day and was occupied by one of my decomposing ghouls.
You can't have a haunted cemetery without ghosts! Throughout the years I have hung up ghosts from fishing lines strung between trees but they just weren't eery enough for me. In 1998 I begged my husband (who can build practically anything) to help me build Doug Ferguson's famous Flying Crank Ghost. It is so incredible that I can sit and stare at it for hours. We used it as a background for the funeral home we built in our garage.
Doug Ferguson created a video that provides you with step-by-step instructions. There are many web pages with instructions on how to build it, however, if you are "mechanically-challenged", like me, I highly recommend you watch the video if you plan to make this great prop.
The only change I made was to use fluorescent "ink" rather than paint. Unlike me, you should wear protective gloves and clothing when you spray the ink on your ghost because my hands "glowed" under black light for several days!
This is Doug Ferguson's Flying Crank Ghost.
Please be patient and wait until the picture loads so that you can see how it works.
